Kiosk vs. Counter

A lot of people are old-schooled and intimidated by kiosks and always buy from the counter. Others enjoy the speed and convenience of a kiosk. But is there a reason to choose one over the other? Absolutely! In general, I would say if you’re buying low dollar tickets, then it doesn’t matter which you use. When you get into high dollar tickets, kiosks can have many disadvantages, this is because of what i call professional players/gamblers. It won’t take long for you to find videos on YouTube similar to this…I just saw someone play two of these $20 tickets and both were losers, so I decided to buy the next one and hit $200! This is very bad for the next person to buy a ticket in that game. Others won’t even scratch the ticket, just the barcode, and then scan it. Many will repeat this until they get a winner and stop, leaving that game in a bad position. That is why you need to be careful with kiosks. If the kiosk is next to tables or a counter where people can enjoy a coffee and or scratch their tickets, then I wouldn’t buy high dollar tickets from them. This is also true if it’s in sight of the cashier, they have the best chance of knowing when to play. That’s what makes the counter the safest choice. These people are taking their tickets home or scratching them in the car. I don’t think people are going to stand in line to buy a $50 ticket, scratch it, and get back in line to buy another, they will use the kiosk.
One final point with kiosks is that you don’t know how many tickets are in the book, at least not in my state. If this is important for your strategy, you should stick with the counter.
